Northwest School of Dance’s Performing Arts Preschool was opened in September 2016 as the first preschool of its kind in the area. Geared for 3-5 year olds, we combine academic preschool education with creative movement (Brain Dance Method), music/voice/acting and visual arts into a 2 1/2 hour learning experience.
The Performing Arts Preschool is dedicated to offering exceptional instruction. Our preschool offers a safe, child friendly environment for students to explore the arts, and learning. All classes are led by passionate, caring, adult instructors. It is our policy to train students and help them reach their fullest potential. Our goal is to foster academic readiness in a classroom environment while building and flourishing creative minds and abilities through music, dance and personal expression.
Our program is built around the concept that children learn best through movement, creativity, and personal expression. As caregivers and instructors, we strive to create a learning environment that is safe, stimulating, and encouraging. The foundation for our curriculum is as follows: Children develop knowledge of their world through active interactions with caregivers, peers, materials, movement, and the freedom to create. Young children learn best through experiences, which incorporate several areas of development. Learning proceeds at different rates in each area and each child. Children learn best when they are actively engaged. It is just as important to foster academic readiness as it is to foster creativity and personal expression. Both are equally important for success. A creative curriculum does not mean a non-science or math curriculum; these topics flourish in creative minds. Learning begins in the family, continues in early care and education settings, and depends on parent involvement and caregiver guidance. All children have the potential to achieve and excel when given the proper support, love, and instruction.
